Cynthia Burrow, Owner

 

Cynthia Burrow is the proud mother of a recent graduate who has autism. She is also the owner of Strategic Education Solutions, a company that specializes in curriculum development, research, and program evaluation. Ms. Burrow has conceptualized and implemented multi-year projects funded by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities aimed at helping people with IDD plan and build the lives they want. Her work includes development of career/workplace skills, sexual assault prevention and response, co-occurring mental health, peer support, and participatory research products. She has authored several related resources including research papers, gap analysis frameworks, presenations, and learning materials. She has presented and hosted sessions at SXSW Edu and SXSW, The Arc of the US’s annual convention, the National Adult Protective Services Association annual convention, and more. Her work is informed and motivated by her vision of a world where her son is supported, challenged, and ultimately able to achieve his dreams.

James Meadours, Advocacy and Outreach Lead

 

For decades, James Meadours has been a tireless advocate and powerful voice for the rights of people with IDD to live full lives in the community. James has held many leadership positions within the disability rights field, including President of People First of Oklahoma, Chair of Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE), and President of Texas Advocates. He has received The Arc’s Catalyst award and was recently appointed to both the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities and the Centene National Disability Advisory Council. James has presented at many national meetings and conferences. James is a survivor of sexual assault who has spoken out to shed light on this important issue and let other survivors know that they are not alone. As Strategic Education Solutions's Advocacy and Outreach Lead he is responsible for presenting the team's work, recruiting and helping train new team members, and building partnerships with other organizations.

Alisa Miller, Content Lead

 

Alisa Miller has been a writer, researcher, and content developer focused on education and advocacy since 2007. She has served as project coordinator, content lead, and lead researcher for projects addressing career/workplace skills, sexual assault prevention and response, co-occurring mental health, and participatory research for people with IDD. She has co-authored several related resources. She spearheaded the creation of Seen and Heard: IDD Community, a critical resource for sexual assault prevention. As Strategic Education Solutions's Content Lead, she is responsible for ensuring our work is always accessible, engaging, and impactful. Alisa's work is inspired by the desire to create a safe and welcoming space for all people in society, including her two young-adult, neurodiverse children.
